Minterne House & Gardens

Minterne House is located between Sherbourne & Dorchester on the A352 12 miles from Quiet Woman House. It is privately owned and lived in but house visits can be arranged by prior booking. The gardens are famed for their rhododendrons, azaleas, Japanese cherries and magnolias. A mile circular walk through the gardens can if you wish take an hour or all day. There are benches and seats dotted about, lakes, streams, birds and wildlife galore and tea, coffee, sandwiches or cream teas to finish on the terrace overlooking a pretty spectacular area of Dorset countryside. Late April early May would be when most of the shrubs are in full bloom but a visit at any time would be very peaceful and enjoyable.

The garden path walk is uneven so not wheelchair friendly but it is dog friendly.

As usual please check their web site for all details and perhaps consider staying here with us at Quiet Woman House to explore West Dorset further.
