Kingston Maurward

Kingston Maurward probably has something for everyone. 750 acres including gardens, house, equestrian centre working farm and college. The house has been used for filming locations including The Monument Men starring George Clooney.

The gardens are formal and named, so there is the brick garden, the walled garden, the secret garden etc etc Their web site explains the history and lay out in detail. Tours and cream teas are available.

The animal park is home to Shetland ponies, goat's, alpaca's chickens, rabbits and pigs to name but a few. It is a rare breeds centre and conservation trust. There are also some birds of prey experience trips which need to be booked in advance, again details are on the Kingston Maurward web site.

As if all that isn't enough there is a walk which can be followed from the park to Hardy's cottage with admission to the cottage included. The route is 1.8 miles with a slightly longer option of 2.7 miles returning via Lower Bockhampton.

Why not stay at Quiet Woman House while you are at it? What's not to like!
